Working as a freelance digital marketing specialist for clients overseas is increasingly common these days. Again, there are many benefits, but it might take its toll on you if you’re not ready. Some of these clients will want out to work in their time zone, which can be difficult depending on where you and your client live. Sometimes you’ll be able to work around this, or find the same type of job with more flexible hours. Other times you might just have to push through it, working from home is similar to any work environment, you have to work your way up from somewhere.

Working online is also becoming a more and more attractive prospect, with many women coming home from work and starting up again on the PC. Being paid for a couple hours work a week, doing something different everyday can be a change that many people welcome. You will need to develop your own office space when you start to get serious. Luckily, this is where the flexibility of working from home comes into play, as you could always just use your bed. Work in an environment that suits you, but always remember that you should have constant access to a good PC or laptop, and a great internet connection. Now I’m not saying you should sent up a tent next to your PC. If you have a tablet with 3G, or mobile Wi-Fi or you’ve found a coffee shop with a hotspot, you can travel around or run errands.

You may be a work from home mom, but 1 out of 2 isn’t bad. You’ll find that working from home can be very much like working anywhere else. Bosses will negotiate holiday times, sick days, bonus pay and more. One thing that I’ve found to be very different is how much more I’m doing. I’m not stuck doing the same thing day in day out, I take up a new job, learn a new skill, learn a new practise. Even the basic things, like typing, will improve greatly. I went from 40 Words per minute to 90 Words per minute. You’re constantly challenging yourself and being rewarded for it. This isn’t for everyone, but if you feel like giving it a go, I wholly recommend finding a quick and short job and seeing how it works out for you.
